Arrange laundry appliances on two separate levels

The laundry appliances occupy two levels in a narrow alcove. A broad shelf separates the upper machine from the washing machine beneath it. The arrangement uses the height of the recess instead of placing both appliances side by side.

If a laundry alcove forms part of your refurbishment, plan the supporting structure and access around the actual machines. Include the doors, controls and servicing space when deciding the levels. This photograph offers a useful layout idea; the shelf construction and appliance requirements need to be specified for the particular installation.
