This was a full refurbishment in Ellon. The customers wanted a bathroom that would be easier for their children to use, so we proposed replacing the bathtub with a large walk-in shower under the sloped ceiling.
We managed to fit a very large walk-in shower, measuring 1800 x 900mm, which is the largest standard tray size available. For the shower area, we used solid core panels in a Richwood matt effect. Around the lower half of the room, we used 1200 x 600mm tiles, cut to 900 x 600mm, as the natural stopping point was where the sloped ceiling ended. For the floor, we used the 600 x 600mm version of the wall tiles.
For the vanity unit area, the customers had seen some of our past projects and liked the idea of using slatted wood-effect tiles up to the ceiling, creating a feature strip behind the vanity unit. We used a standard back-to-wall toilet, with the pipework hidden. We had to build a small box to run the toilet pipe, which had previously been hidden by the old custom units.
To the right of the vanity unit, we fitted a double toothbrush charger. In the centre of the feature tile strip, we fitted an LED mirrored cabinet, along with an electric radiator.
The walk-in shower has a fixed glass panel and a small flipper panel, which works best in this type of layout. We also fitted a dual thermostatic shower, as these are now our standard option for modern bathroom refurbishments.
