This is one of our favourite transformations so far, where we completely changed the layout and redesigned the bathroom. The old bathroom did not make the best use of the space, even though it was a decent-sized room.
First of all, we used large tiles with epoxy grout throughout, including floor tiles with underfloor heating. From a reliability point of view, this is one of the best options you can get for a bathroom. It offers the easy-clean benefits of panels, thanks to the very small amount of grout, while also using a much more flexible and durable grout, combined with the reliability of tiles.
The bath area was moved to the space near the window. A freestanding bathtub was fitted there, with a black exterior, and a large niche with an LED strip was installed. Inside the niche, we used gold mosaic tiles, which also match the wall-mounted bath filler for the bathtub. Above the bath, we added a towel rail to make better use of the space there.
On the other side, where the bath used to be, we installed custom-built units, including a large unit above the toilet, while the toilet itself is wall-hung. To the right of the toilet, we fitted a black countertop basin, with a brass waste and a waterfall-effect countertop tap. Behind the sink, there is also a line of mosaic tiles. There is also an LED mirror with a toothbrush charger. One small feature we included was replacing the skirting board with panels cut to size. By doing this, we could align the doors with the skirting, creating a more modern look.
For the shower, we kept the same location, but made it longer so it extends almost to the door, while also using a frameless design to make the space feel more open. We managed to lower the tray significantly, almost to the same level as the floor, while also keeping it black. The shower fittings are gold, while the two illuminated recesses also feature mosaic tiles behind them. Opposite the shower, the old radiator was replaced with a premium towel radiator with pipes coming from the wall, which makes cleaning easier.
The ceiling has gold downlights, with an inline extractor fan above the shower. We plastered and painted the ceiling.
All in all, this is one of the most dramatic transformations. We cannot always change a bathroom this much, but when the room has the right dimensions, the budget is adequate, and customers follow our advice, the results can be truly dramatic.
