We install a lot of walk-in showers, and we usually prefer to use the longest screen possible. It is the most elegant option, keeps more splashes inside, and is very easy to clean. Maintenance is also virtually zero, as there are no moving parts at all.
This was a 1700mm tray with a 1200mm fixed screen, leaving a 500mm clearance for entering the shower.
