Working in Small Spaces
Working in compact bathrooms is something we’re very familiar with. In the UK, bathrooms are often quite small, especially in urban areas, where having a large bathroom is a rare luxury. We’ve become experts in maximising the potential of these smaller spaces.
Here are a few ways to make the most of a small bathroom:
Remove the Bathtub
If you don’t require a bathtub, consider replacing it with a shower. Walk-in showers are particularly popular and can create the illusion of more space.
Use Light Colours
Opt for lighter colours, as dark tones can make a room feel smaller.
Install Underfloor Heating
Underfloor heating is a great alternative to a large radiator. While you may still need a small radiator, it won’t dominate the space.
Add Recesses in the Wall
Recesses, especially in the shower area, provide extra storage without taking up additional space.
Use Bright Downlights
The more light, the more spacious the room will feel. A glossy UPVC ceiling can also reflect light, making the room appear larger.
Opt for Custom-Built or Wall-Hung Units
Custom-built or wall-hung units maximise storage and create a seamless, streamlined look.
Choose a Wall-Hung Toilet
A wall-hung toilet saves space and makes cleaning easier.
Use Large Mirrors
Large mirrors, or even multiple mirrors, can enhance the sense of space.
Convert to a Wetroom
A wetroom is the ultimate space-saving solution, offering a sleek and open design.
Consider a Pocket Door
Where possible, a pocket door that slides into the wall can save valuable space. This depends on the construction of the wall, but it’s a great option if feasible.
