Situations where it’s better for us to supply the materials:
Where convenience is really important
If you want the process to be as easy as possible, a complete supply & fit quote is the way to go! Yes, you might have a little bit less choice and maybe not get the best price on a product, but it’s the most hassle-free experience for you.
Specialist building work
An example would be an extension work or conversion. Because there are so many voluminous materials, we would need them on site right on time. Too late or too soon and it’s going to delay our project. This is why we offer only supply & fit quotes for these projects!
Products that require a lot of labour to replace
For example plumbing products that might be expensive to replace. A thermostatic shower could be much more expensive to replace in terms of labor rather than the actual price.
Complex items
Some things are complex to buy. For example, the kitchen components are relatively simple for a kitchen (different units, worktop, some hardware, doors/drawer fronts and that’s it), it’s basically a lego! (and not a very complex lego) But it’s hard to know what parts to buy if you haven’t fitted kitchen in the past. You’ll end up with a more expensive final bill if you do this yourself and make mistakes.
Situations where it’s better for you to supply the materials:
When you want total control over your project
It takes more involvement but, if you have the time, the experience might be more rewarding at the end.
When your budget is low
Sometimes you have to improve something in your property out of necessity, rather than the wish for something different. If your budget is low, then shopping around for items will save you some money.
Some electrics
This doesn’t include things like electric showers, but all the consumer/DIY orientated electrics. For example light fittings, kitchen appliances, and others. Recently there’s a big push for smart homes: CCTV systems, smart speakers (especially those hard wired, for example, speakers in the ceiling), Alexa/Google Home switches and sockets, electric blinds, smart radiator controllers.
All of these are relatively easy to buy and inexpensive. Every 2-3 months there’s something else out there, so there’s no point to try to supply them. If you buy them, we are more than happy to fit them.
Accessories
Every room can have a multitude of accessories. Examples include towel rings, door stoppers, and so on. If you buy these, most likely we’ll fit them at no extra charge since it doesn’t take long.
