This is an extension project that we took that was a bit o challenge for us due to hard access, building between two other extensions and very deep foundations. The project took three months, with around 3-4 weeks when we were not able to work due to adverse weather conditions or Christmas/New Years period.
It actually took us a while to figure how to access the back of the property, as we couldn’t get trough the neighbours’ properties (as they had nice back gardens).
This is how the back of the properties looked like, a very steep hill, so getting tons and tons of soil out and materials in seemed impossible.
The solution? Finally we decided to built a bridge connecting the back of the property to the garage, and trough the garage having access to materials and skips.
This meant that we had a level surface to be able to walk on and start building the extension. This allowed to deal with the steep hill and also the damage to the grass was inexistent (as the light could reach the grass beneath)
The rest is the usual work:
We wanted to include this project in our website, as many complain in Aberdeen that they can’t find contractors doing complex projects, especially those involving building warrants. The reason for this is because this sort of projects are subject to hundreds of building regulations and it’s very hard work. At the end of the day, a painting only business or joinery only business sometimes do a larger profit than us, even if they don’t have much responsibility.
